Fridge on, fridge off
My wife is very concerned about our fridge and what other folks do during non use times. We plug our camper in to 30 amp while at home. So the fridge remains powered up, but only has a few condiments in it until the next camping trip. So what do folks do ? ON, or OFF ?

I believe quite a few folks leave theirs on and use them continuously. We turn ours on prior to leaving, use it all the time while gone (several months) then empty it and turn it off when we return. Ours is a residential fridge so if I leave it on all the time I need to leave the inverter on all the time (my opinion) and I view that as unneeded usage. If you use it that's one thing, to leave it on just to leave it on for months on end wouldn't serve any purpose that I can see.

I added a 50 amp plug & a water spigot next to my shop & had the blue tote for waste that was hauled 20 yards to a cleanout & it stayed plugged in 24/7/365 with fridge running stocked with water, sodas & adult beverages & A/C if desired. My grandkids loved to come "camp" in the driveway & we used it often as a guest house for family & friends. IMO rvs deteriorate faster by lack use, ours was used regularly, but many times didn't leave the driveway.

If we have plans for using the trailer in the 2 or 3 weeks after returning, we leave the refrigerator on and plugged into the house. If we are parking it someplace where there's no power or if we're not going to use it for a month or so, we turn the refrigerator off, empty it, wipe it down and leave the doors open so it won't mold. We also "completely disconnect the batteries if there's no power and if there is power, we leave them turned on and check fluid levels every month. If we're using it in a couple of weeks, it's "always on, always charged and always ready"....

We typically turn it on in the spring and turn it off in the fall. Once we start camping for the season, we are using it on a weekly basis so we don’t bother unloading and then restarting and loading when heading out again. With a typical absorption refrigerator there is a lead time involved to allow cooling down prior to loading it up

"On" all the time, never turn it off. When on the road traveling, it's still "on". Never off.

We made a big mistake with our prior unit. Used to leave it plugged in and on all the time at home. But last summer in the heat where it was parked it did not get proper circulation and went bust. If you do leave plugged in besure plenty of air can circulate around the coils.

We generally turn it off once it is ready for cleaning and storage. With the solar we run 12V only for the days prior to the trip and for the days/week after the trip until we get around to cleaning it.

My TT is plugged into a 30amp service 365/yr.
I turn the fridge on each May when I de-winterize. It stays on till mid-October when I winterize.

If it’s a residential style fridge then leaving it on shouldn’t be an issue. If it’s not you might have some defrost issues in the freezer.
