Water heater

What should the temperature be for my water heater? If not hot enough, could it be bad element or thermostat?

If it’s a Suburban, I just replaced the 120 volt thermostat/high limit switch because the water on the electric mode was not getting hot enough. The thermostats, both the gas and electric are rated at 130 degrees.

Not hot enough heating with gas, electric, or both? Have you checked the bypass valve on the WH? If it's not turned completely cold water will mix with the hot. Also check inside and outside showers. If the shower head has the "pause" push valve to stop the water briefly while keeping the water faucets open. If the pause valve is engaged and the faucets are open then the hot and cold water will mix.

Some additional info would be awesome with your issue... such as year, make and model of your RV and is the WH Suburban or Atwood..

A properly working Suburban SW series in either electric or LP mode will scald you quite nicely if there is water in the WH and the outlet check valve on WH is not stuck closed

If you have both elect and LP mode there are two thermostats.. not likely that both are bad.. Operation of one mode has nothing to do with the other mode .. in other words.. LP mode has no affect on operation of elec mode.. two separate control systems
