19 Fuzion fender skirts

So our fuzion's fender on driver side " plastic" flaps pretty bad. Looking at the causes, we find the stupid thin stanchions, made of thin steel " kind of an L bracket about 12 to15 inches long, screwed on to the back side of the fender .
How can we fix this as all of the screws have pulled through the thin steel brackets.
Should we get an L bracket made of thicker steel and make modifications to attach point ?
Has anyone else fixed this somehow 🤔
Thanks in advance L

The fenders are a common problem and folks have fixed them in various ways. Those thin metal brackets for support will break once they start flexing a lot. First look over the fenders and see how many screws have pulled through the plastic, cracked it etc. You didn't mention that so maybe they haven't.

I used 8x32 spring nuts on the back of all my screws to retain them. I also put finishing washers under the heads to keep them from pulling through the plastic;

Get the appropriate size for your screws. I painted mine black. I used 1/8 x 1" aluminum stock and fabricated new supports to go behind the fenders. I also used some stock that was a bit thicker in some of the longer, "flexier" spots. As a warning if it crosses your mind; I thought I would use some locktite on the screws into the spring nuts - don't. Melted a perfect circle the size of the screw in the fender.

Others have replaced all the screws with stainless screws, washers and nylock nuts.

I noticed mine on the drivers side was cracked right through..I took the metal off and bent it again and used a self tapping screw and it stopped flapping…you could put new screws in and silicone the ends of the threads..that would probably help..I have to look and see what better bracket would work and not interfere with the slides

The following links should give you enough views of what other people have done to solve their similar issues. Take a look at them and see if most of your questions are answered. I think you'll find the reading intersting, and there's pictures to help explain the processes. The second link if probably the most "professional solution" and one that several people have successfully used.
