I forgot about those Honda Preludes. I think that was 1987, I was a DJ doing a remote broadcast at the local Honda dealer. I drove one to talk about it on the air. At high speeds it was normal steering. Below 10 mph, the back wheels articulated. Very weird feeling. I think I described it like being on the Teacup ride at the fair! Pretty sure Honda dropped the idea within 2 years. Seems to me GM did the same thing for SRW pickups in the early 2000's.

Yep wife had a 89 prelude si I think it was still available up until then
She didn’t get that option though
The rear wheels turned opposite below 5 miles an hour? To help in parking But when on the highway and changing lanes they turned the same direction to move over quickly and at an angle

IIRC the rear steer was complex, expensive, and problimatic. Another one of those " looks good on paper" deals that they pushed out too early in an attempt to get a hedge on the competition.

Yesterday I saw a Super Duty limo. It had 9 side windows. This was in Cape Coral Florida

Not sure why that truck was so hard to turn around, I have a crew cab now and it's not a problem. Could it be the 2wd vs my 4wd?

Maybe since it didn’t have power steering they limited the lock to lock wheel travel ? So it wouldn’t go “hard over” in case you let go of the wheel in a accident. Keep it from flipping
Edit: that sounded better in my head lol

Juist guessing it's a combo of wheel base length and advances if axle technology. The old kingpin, front leaf spring with U-Joints couldn't turn tightly due to binding.

I think you nailed it.
Anyway, the theme song in that shop was "give me forty acres"
