I-10 was originally Hwy 73 going east. I can remember when it was a divided 4 lane with a stop sign at 610 east, where the Budweiser brewery is. Want to find the scariest portion of I-10? Drive it through Orange Texas. Don't even think about visiting the rest area just west of Louisiana. You better have some horsepower to merge on the freeway as the entrance ramp is maybe 40 yards long.
I 45 , aka The Gulf Freeway, to Galveston has been in constant re-construction forever.
So George when the majority of Houston finally retires to "The Hill Country" you too will be inundated with construction. Add the California prune pickers moving here and the current mess with I-35 is only the beginning.
