Patio Awning

Hi, on a recent trip, I extended our patio awning and when I tried to retract it, it came in about 1/2 way then it felt like the gear was slipping. I helped it in by pushing it while I turned the crank and was able to get it to lock into position. The next time I used it, it extended fine but refused to retract. The crank handle seems to work fine but it feels with the gears aren't meshing and are slipping.
Anyone have a similar issue or know of a solution?

Captain obvious here....it sound like you need a new gear, sometime due to load or rust some of the gear pong got stuck and broke, I would suggest open and examine it closely.
