Traveling to Canada

If I remember correctly, a tt had to be dual certified by UL and CSA to enter Canada. Is this still in effect or is it just for tt's that will stay and be registered in Canada? We really want to get back to Sudbury but our travels there were by car only. Thanks for any help given as the Canadian border site does not seem to address this.

Back when we could actually travel into Canada, no one ever said anything about certifications and we spend weeks in Canada on a typical year (except this year due to the border being closed).

"We really want to get back to Sudbury"
Living in Ontario since birth, and I have never heard those words uttered.
I have however heard on many occasions "Let's get the *7%# outta Sudbury"
I'm pretty sure all trailers are welcome to visit, unless you're smuggling.

I was thinking the same thing about Sudbury, but wanted to be respectful of you and our other Northern neighbors, so thank you for saying it!

Don’t get me wrong, we know and appreciate the science and the history of the area. It has gotten better over the years but still reminds me of a post-apocalyptical wasteland.

My DW trades in fossils, minerals, rocks, metals (nickel, silver, copper, and gold) and semi-precious gemstones from around the world and on occasion from out of this world (meteorites). We dig a lot of it ourselves across North America on both sides of the Northern border and have made some interesting finds over the years. But Sudbury has never come across to us as a vacation destination!

Are you coming back for a visit or to live?
That will make the difference. You would need to import the TT as personal property.
Not hard to do..
If you are just visiting there is no issue except the borders being closed to regular travel.

The mining industry really didn't care how they left the place while they raped the land of it's natural resources. They did have to construct a super stack so they could also do damage down wind and out of the GSA (Greater Sudbury Area).

Onaping Falls is really nice, and about 45 mins N/W of Sudbury.

Enjoy

Dan, not to mention Falconbridge and E I du Pont and their price fixing schemes. On a more pleasant note, Brenda and I fished the Espanola area (Bear Lake) for close to 20 years. Wonderful people and always had a great time.

Judging by the responses and total lack of real answers, it seems like Canada, and Ontario in particular, is not filled with the friendly and welcoming people we experienced when we were much younger. What a disappointment. Instead of visiting a country that we consider at least as beautiful as the US, we will concentrate on visiting the 9 remaining states in the lower 47 that we have not visited. Good thing we found out now as the planning for the big trip in 2022 is about to begin. Thanks to all who cleared our thinking about our neighbor to the north.

That's awesome. We can be a sarcastic bunch.
I believe you're question was answered in your original post, and in a timely fashion I might add.
Aside from Niagara Falls and some nice little bits in it, I'm not a fan of Ontario. When I retire it's my goal to move West. If you think I'm bad? I'm pretty sure the greeting I will get when I get out there once they find out I'm from Ontario, if they don't pick up on my mannerisms, will be less than cordial.
Don't take it personal friend. I was not making fun of you or trying to belittle your way of life.
If I have offended you I am deeply sorry. ('cause Canucks are always sorry)

Alaska, Hawaii, what's that 3rd state not in the "lower states"? What did I miss? Did some state move? Nobody tells me anything!

I watch a very horrible TV show called the Curse of Oak Island. The principals in the show are US citizens and were forced, due to the plague, to isolate for 14 days after re-entry into Canada this season. Not sure if the isolation rule is still in effect for US citizens entering into Canada. BTW: I confess to being an idiot for watching this show.

Of all people I shouldn't point fingers. With my neck surgeries (7 total now) I mistype more than most as result of the numb and fat fingers.

There is a 14 day quarantine to enter Canada, You best have paperwork to corroborate the address you will be serving your 14 days at. If you don't they will turn you around and escort you back to US soil.
If you resist, we will throw Timbits at you and insult you. I know, it seems harsh.

A Canadian couple that own property in Mexico wanted to head down there with a travel trailer to pay taxes and winter at. The US border would not allow them in as they had no proof of residence in the US to quarantine in. They pulled a U turn back to Canada, and were then ordered to quarantine for 14 days in their home somewhere in B.C.. Now that's harsh.

We will not ever set foot in the long state on the southwest coast. We will step it up and visit sewage treatment plants instead.

About 6 years ago I had to go to Toronto for business. The company I worked for had 3 bakery/cafes in Canada and I had to inspect the Toronto location before the company bought it back from the franchisee. At the time Canada was really harassing Americans entering the country. I decided to drive up and took the DW with me.

We crossed at Rainbow Bridge. Did it many many times when out DD was in college in Buffalo, NY. We used to take her and her roommates over and buy them dinner as the exchange rate was ridiculously advantageous for the dollar back then. We would go up to visit our DD and buy her clothes and other things in Canada. Spent a fair amount of money in those 4 years she was in college.

Anyway, DW and I go thru and the usual questions and was told to pull over and go inside. After 5 hours pof just waiting we got questioned. I had emails, and other documents stating my business. Then they asked me why the company wouldn't hire a Canadian to do this. I explained that I was in charge of roughly 350+or-locations and hiring someone for 3 locations was not economically viable.

Then to make my visit worse I entered a toll highway. The GPS directed mt to the toll road. No toll booth, just electronic which was not evident until you were well committed on the entrance. Of course my EZ Pass was not recognized. That 5 mile journey cost me $125 when I returned home and found the "violation" in the mail. I felt like I had crossed Checkpoint Charlie in 1960 Berlin and was mot only interrogated by the Stassi but had to pay for that pleasure.

That trip did not leave me feeling "warm and fuzzy" topwards Canada. No offense to the Canadians here and perhaps things have changed but if I'm not welcomed then I spend my money where I am. JMHO

George, George....Oak Island?? I disconnected regular TV and Dish at all our houses years ago because I got tired of "junk" TV - and commercials. Well, walked in a couple months back and what does DW have on the TV? Oak Island! I watched it for about 5 minutes and made my call on it and asked how she found it. Seems it's on Netflix or Prime or something. Told her I would be doing something else. Seemed like every time I walked in the room that show was on... Thankfully, here at this place, we have "regular" TV which I don't like BUT she has not been able to find Oak Island. A blessing in the curse? But yes, she is a very intelligent person I just question the Oak Island thing - but to each his own. I like shows she thinks are wonky as well. Have fun and help them find that treasure!

DW loves Oak Island. At the end of each show I will say "drink your Ovaltine" (A Christmas Story movie reference). After an hour of how the Aussie found a "Bobby Dazzler" like a button, they tell you to tune in next week for some other breaking news, like finding a broken pick axe.
