Tank fill valve malfunction?

Anyone have this issue?

I’m hooked to city water, I think the valves are in the correct positions but the fresh water tank filled up even though the tank fill was off. It took almost 2 days to do it. I noticed there was water coming out the fresh tank vent.
Pic of valve position below

I think the tank fill valve is leaking into the fresh tank. I have tried moving the valve back and forth but no change.

My SIL had the same problem of a slow fill while hooked up to the city water inlet side on his Forest River (no valve like you). The water pump’s valve was bad and allowed water to trickle in. We disassembled and cleaned the pump head but it still did it. A new pump for $65 fixed that problem. I think you’re correct about your valve, but I’m sure someone here will chime in who’s seen this for themselves.

Lots of info on the forum regarding this issue. Ideas on hope to clear and reset the valve of install a backflow preventer.

Another way to stop the water flow back into the fresh tank is to install a check valve on the line between the pump and the plumbing side of the pump. Ours started filling the tank years ago, and we were a long way from any RV store. I went into the small town we were near and got a check valve that would work on the 1/2" PEX and the problem was solved. I left the check valve there even after replacing the pump years later. DO NOT install the check valve on the suction side of the pump. This is what I used. https://www.lowes.com/pd/SharkBite-B...lve/1000296471

I haven’t seen the valve yet only what is in the pic above. I don’t think a check valve will work in this configuration. But I won’t really know until I see how it is plumed.

Certainly sounds like your valve is continuing to pass to the tank, I have read about other failures. My valve feels pretty light duty, I try to avoid operating it under flow conditions ie shut off water fill at source before operating valve.

I just went thru this with my Fuzion 417. The check valve on the water pump got hung up. Easy fix.

The internal water pump check valve on water pump is stuck open. You can try running water pump a few times to clear it.

Images of check valve , repair kit and brass one way check valve that is a much better fix

Your water system in the convenience center looks to be the same as on our rig. Some years ago when our pump's check valve started allowing water to go backwards into the fresh tank, and after I installed the check valve on the pressure side of the pump, I drew up a one line diagram of the plumbing looking at the back of the convenience center wall. I've also attached a photo of the plumbing with the brass check valve installed in the blue PEX line. The blue lines in the drawings of the valves indicates the water flow path when all the valves are in their normal position.

Nice work with the drawing and if folks will listen and follow your advice they will never have a fresh water tank back fill again..

Anderson released their upgrade to the OEM old style 4 way Kantleak valve with brass fittings, 3 positons and on the backside of the water pump line connection guess what they installed... a screw on brass check valve to prevent reverse flow .. simple and it works

If you look at the photos provided by the other posters you will note there are two types. One is threaded and screws into the output side of the pump. With the other you cut the pex line and install the valve in the line. No clamps or special tools needed.

Here is how I resolved it if you have a standard gravity fill that use and don't want to use the non-convenient center LOL to fill your tank as I do:
