Pathway X2 Satellite

I just bought a used pathway x2 satellite. Do I need to activate receiver before dish will find satellite? I have hooked everything up and tried about 5-6 times to get everything to load. All I get is a loss of signal message. There are a few trees about 30 yards from us and thought that was blocking signal. So I put dish on top of my rv slide. Same issue. But I haven’t activated the receiver. Thought dish would lock on satellite and then tell me I would need to operate. Any insight would be great. Thanks

Download the Winegard app. Using AR, you can see the satellites to know if they are blocked.

I have the X2 but, don't remember if I activated the Wally receiver first or not but, a friend of mine has one of those tail gaters he had never hooked it up so one day we hooked it up to his 5ver and to a activated receiver. it didn't work because he was using a receiver from his house a dual tuner one. He ordered a Wally and it worked fine. Just throwing this out here to make sure you have a compatible receiver.
