Yellowstone Update

We’re currently at Headwaters at Flagg Ranch about 3 miles outside the south entrance. The RV park was sold out when I booked the site back in Jan. It’s still pretty full, I’d say about 80%. Others along the way are looking about the same. I suppose the combination of fuel costs and the flooding caused a few people to change plans. As for the park, we went yesterday. I haven’t looked the info up, but I’m guessing they’re not doing the every other day based on license plate number anymore. They never looked at or asked about mine, ours is an even, but I saw others on the park with odd numbers and letters as well.

The park is in great shape, although I didn’t go to the north loop. The roads were open so I could have, we were just getting too tired to add that extra time yesterday, and to be honest, I didn’t want to take a chance of getting up there and running into a bunch of traffic jams due to road construction/limited traffic flow. The Yellowstone River is still very full, I’ve never seen the water level that high (not that I’ve seen it a lot).

As for number of visitors, it seemed pretty steady, not much different than the last I was here 12 years ago. I’m sure that’s low by todays standards with the number of people RVing, but it was a welcomed blessing for us.

I’ve heard a rumor diesel prices have been dropping, wouldn’t know that from being up here. I had to put some in the truck yesterday, limited it to nothin for than what I needed since it was $6.61/gal. We’re headed over to Jackson Hole tomorrow, I’ll fuel up there, according to Gas Buddy, there is a Sinclair that is $5.29/gal.
