12v Refrigerators
Tired of dealing with my absorption fridge and contemplating the switch to a 12v refrigerator and need some info.
We do not boondock....strictly FHU 'campers'. I do not have solar and have (1) 12v true deep cycle 100ah battery.
With this setup, would I have enough juice to run the fridge during travel, say 8 hours max?
I'm not to electrically inclined but doing some basic looking I come up with the following....appreciate some feedback from those in the know:
Furrion 10cu.ft. model is advertised as using 1.08kWh per day. Converting this to amp hours = 90. 90/24 hours = 3.75ah
3.75 * 8 (hours of travel) = 30ah.
So, if my 100ah battery has a usable life 'til discharge of 50ah. Does this mean I would still be nicely charged up when I'm done traveling for the day and can then get back on shore power, letting the converter do it's thing?
Also, I am not factoring in how much recharging my truck will provide during transit....is it possible I would actually be recharging enough during travel to not even realize a discharge?
