Water Heater--spares and operational details
I have a 2021 Passport 219BH with a Dometic WH-6GEA dual power hot water heater. On a previous trailer, I had the DSI board (direct spark ignition for propane operation) fail, so I want to carry a spare. I'm attaching an image of the existing board. Amazon shows the full part number on the side of the module--and I don't have a picture of that--would have to demount the board to see the edge.
Any ideas on ordering a spare?
Secondly--does this board affect use of the electric heating? If it only controls the propane, then I don't need a spare until the board dies.
Appreciate your input!

Here's a link to what appears to be your board:

Note the 3rd bullet down under Description; the board controls both LP and electric operation.

Thanks!
Appreciate your quick & informative response. I had overlooked that it is required for electric operation as well as propane, so a spare sounds wise. Bummer is, like on Amazon, this "works with" list of models doesn't include mine. I have submitted an inquiry to Atwood-now Dometic.

If your looking for a good back-up, I would look at Dinasour brand.

Mine melted down at about 1 1/2 years old. Dometic replaced it for free, but I bought a Dinosaur brand and keep the new Dometic as a spare. When the original died, I lost gas operation but electric still worked.

Water Heater DSI Board
Thanks for the images and info you shared.
The variations in part numbers and board appearances are enough to make a (overly?) detailed-focus guy like me go wild.
I don't see Dinosaur boards that physically resemble what I have. One Amazon board does resemble mine very well.
When something really gives me the warm fuzzies I'll share my findings/opinion.
Regards,
Randy from Ohio

The Dinosaur board looks NOTHING like the original, but that’s a good thing since the original design is part of the reason they fail in the first place. It is plug and play though and I have not heard of one failing yet. As I said earlier, I replaced my failed Dometic board with the Dinosaur two years ago and I keep the brand new Dometic replacement as a back up.
Personally I wouldn’t overthink it.

OEM control boards and Dinosaur control boards "look different" because "they are different"... Dinosaur control boards are "reliable, which is why they don't look like OEM boards"....
To me, it's sort of like TK "china bombs" compared to decent tires.... One works and one "might work for a while"....
I can't remember ever having to replace a Dinosaur control board that failed... Yep, they're "that good" .....

Living Dinosaurs....
OK--point made. Thanks. I was just trying to avoid paying for something I couldn't return that wasn't compatible.
Best Regards,
Randy
