Black water tank display is wrong

The display for the black water tank on our Pathfinder shows 2/3 full when it's nearly empty.
I noticed this the other day , so I filled the tank with clean water, and drained it. The tank then showed empty.
Now again, one day into our stay, it shows it's 2/3 full. That can't be with only one person using it.

The tank sensors (actually probes similar to nails) send a signal to the "illuminated display" when something wet makes contact with the probes. If you can imagine a piece of wet toilet paper or a "chunk of solid human waste" laying across the horizontal probe inside the tank.........

The "illuminated display" will indicate where the highest "wet spot on a probe" condition exists...

Here's what the "nail in the tank" looks like. Keeping it clean so it won't sense "being wet" is daunting. If you're bored and have lots of time to spare, I suppose the effort (and frustration) to keep "nails clean inside a poo tank" is a challenge. Most just ignore the sensors and the "illuminated display" and just rely on how the toilet sounds when you flush it. When it "gurgles" you'll know it's time to dump.

You'll drive yourself nuts fretting over something that will NEVER be any better than it is now. You can rinse, clean, add magic elixirs & will work great til the 1st time you fill the tank again.
Pay attention to the sound when you flush, when the tank is getting full you'll notice a very different sound, similar to filling a bottle when it starts filling the neck of the bottle.
Welcome to RV tank sensors 101.

You don't drink enough beer in a campground where you can't pee outside i see.
