nice looking rig OP! now you just got to get that blue stuff off the white lettering, or some new tires altogether

I’m colorblind so don’t notice some things lol.. I didn’t want the dealer to detail the truck because of the salt on the roads and snow when I bought it. It would have looked like they washed it with a brick....the dealer where I purchased isnt a big modern dealer. I don’t even know if they wash vehicles inside a building or outside.I just got around to getting the sticker off the front window. And I’ve never been a fan of raised white letters on tires but it’s kinda the style on this dually night edition...will see how I like it for awhile.

turn the white lettering to the inside! thats what i did to mine when it was still on the stock tires.

I may do that when I rotate tires sometime in the future...I don’t know I’m kinda liking the look for now
Reminds me of old school muscle car. I usually always put white letters to the inside. And liberal amounts of tire foam to make them really black..probably won’t stick with nexxus tires

Also I am late to your truck purchasing analysis but I’m towing a way heavier trailer than yours with a srw. I am within all weight capacities of the truck. It actually towed and rides better than my old cougar 336bhs and weighs about 4k more. The rotoflex hitch sure removed a lot of chucking. I put airbags on to help raise the rear end squat 1”. Sure helped the ride too !

I thought about getting srw but I like the look of the dually with an 8’ bed. I was looking for a loaded srw shortbed one ton but none available at the time and I grew to like the dually better. There are good points and bad about all of the vehicles,in the end it comes down to personal preference and making sure all the weights look good. This won’t be my last truck ,I will probably have another one in five years or so,might have something completely different then. But I am extremely happy right now.
And air bags are great! I spent about $800 a few months ago putting them on my ram 2500 with an onboard compressor..should have pulled it all off before I traded.Someone got a nice setup when they bought my truck. My new one has the factory air ride

Oh yes. Totally appreciate your decision I was just posting my recent experience so if someone reads this thread they can have another datapoint. I didn’t like the sag even though truck handled fine so really glad I got some airbags. Congrats again and happy rving.

That’s a good point about future readers of the thread...and it really does help listening to everyone’s experience with the rig they chose ..so thanks!

Just want to say anyone on the fence about getting a drw truck....you won’t be sorry.. it’s a night and day towing experience btw my old truck....disclaimer: my old truck was 2012 2500 6.7 with airbags ..I’m sure just stepping up to 1 ton would have made a noticeable difference but having 4 tires on the ground in the rear definitely feels secure

I am surprised you needed bags with that 5er, when I was stepping up from our 2001 Ram 2500 for our current 5er, I figured going to a 3500 SRW would be a lateral move and based on current TV weight ready to tow, would have been right at payload with 5er attached. Yes towing is so sweet now.

The old truck wasn’t quite level without airbags...and when I went over a dip in the highway it was a “rockin and a rollin”.. now I hardly know it’s back there

I had to go back to your first post and it sounds like your Ram 2500 didn't have a camper package. Our 2001 Ram 2500 came with the camper package, it had the same rear springs as the 3500 DRW of the same year. We war towing 5er with a GVWR only 30# less than yours. While the 2500 was stable it was overloaded, with the new TV is far better.
What surprised me while doing my research, was with a 2,700# pin and us, small dog, hitch, and the in bed tool box we would have been within about 200# of maxing a Ram 3500 SRW payload.

Tow vehicle

Just traded my 2500 ram for 3500 SRW ram with HO diesel. Traded because payload on 2500 wouldn't handle my 14k loaded 5th wheel.
I used to have 2012 Ram dually but didn't like the fact you are limited on drive thru's at banks and restaurants as well as narrow streets. Our new SRW
Has plenty of power and gets the job done.
Hadn't gone cross country yet but don't foresee any problems. Also Cummins gets great fuel mileage when not towing. Over 20 mpg.
Just my opinion!! Bottom line is weigh your options and buy what you want!!
