Others will have more experience than I on this since I'm a first time 5th wheel owner but IMO they do help....a little. I've never used one until this trip. Spent several days in the trailer without one then added one and it seemed to reduce the movement somewhat (it's almost non existent anyway). I bought it for the perceived benefit of additional support for the bedroom (nose) since I've read so much about stress cracks in the front. Worth it?? I don't know but it was only $93 or something like that.

Used one for about 3 years, honestly couldn't tell much difference with or without, finally gave it away. Did get very tired of finding a good storage/hauling spot as it was heavy & bulky.
If using an auto level system, or just landing gear & stabilizers, I found by adding 3-4 or more Lego type pads, wooden blocks if preferred, under each jack shortening their extension helped as much or more than the tripod & MUCH easier to handle/store.

As long as you are sitting on the suspension you will have movement. The Strongarms type stabilizers are recommend by many.

X2!
JT Strongarms will take almost 100% of the shake out of a 5er.

It'll help some on a lighter 5er with minimal rear stabilizers. But as stated, strong arms and or more blocking helps more. The shorter your gear is down the better.

I can't see a tripod doing much to our 417 lol. Thing barely wiggles when set. Theres one for the plus side of being heavy.
