Back up camera

I have a 2018. Avalanche 5th wheel with a Furion built in back up camera.
The camera is powered up as long as the RV battery is connected.

Is there any way of turning the camera off (eg when set up at campsite) or does it just stay powered all the time

I would take if off the RV and see if there is another wire to splice into. Mine is powered by the marker lights. Meaning that when I drive I have to have at least my parking lights of my truck on. I had been thinking about the opposite situation as some want a camera at the door for security. That would require your wiring situation (power constantly). So I'm guessing it does have its advantage if you wanted to monitor the rear of the unit

Did you buy the avalanche used? Maybe previous owner ran a wire under the trailer up to the battery compartment. If you can locate it you could install a switch by the battery..it should also be fused separately..otherwise I would do as mentioned and run off of marker lights

I had a 2017 Avalanche that was that way. My camera burnt out in 1 year. If I still had it, I would tap into the marker lights so the camera was only on when the lights were on.

You could also install a remote switch on the power leads to that camera for under $20. Just Google " 12 v remote switch" and you'll find lots of choices.
