Winterization and pink stuff
I live in North Idaho - If I blow out my water system with air do I need to pump the pink stuff in?

At a minimum you should put it in the traps and tanks. If you get everything else out you may be good. Don’t forget to blow out the toilet and black tank flush lines too.

I do both, air and pink. It's easy and cheap. I helped repair the water system in my FIL's trailer after it froze up. All I can say is "an ounce of prevention..."
Never want to deal with that repair challenge again

And the outside shower if you have one but at $4.00 a gallon the antifreeze is cheap insurance, in my opinion

North Idaho ???? If it's anything like northern Michigan, you need all the protection you can pump into the plumbing on your RV. That means "air to start" followed by "pink to finish".....
Looking "logically" at winterization costs and trailer repair costs, $6 this fall beats $600 in the spring YMMV

Remember to bypass the water heater, and drain it but no pink stuff in it. When you de-winterize and flush it out if a little remains it won't hurt you like car antifreeze.

Hopefully not opening a can of worms, but what is the advantage to blowing out if you then run pink stuff through all the lines?
I just run the pink stuff and have not had an issue in 25 or so years (and I'm in Canada where it can get a little bit cold).

Are you feeling lucky? The pink stuff is cheap compared to having to repair a leak.

It's "double insurance" in that water dilutes RV antifreeze and raises the temperature at which it freezes. Removing the water eliminates the dilution and helps protect to a lower temperature (no dilution of the antifreeze)...
You can do it either by removing the water with air or by running the antifreeze into the system long enough to purge the water (wastes some antifreeze).
Either way will work, personal preference for me is to get rid of as much water as I can so I don't waste antifreeze. YMMV

I found that since putting in an accumulator, I go through a lot of pink stuff. 6 gallons or so. Bit of a PITA, but the stuff is cheap. Maybe I'll try blowing it out and see if I need less.

If I don't use the compressor first, I need about 4 gallons to do my trailer.
If I use the compressor and blow out the lines, I don't need quite 2 gallons. That includes all the traps, the toilet seal and some left over to pour into the toilet halfway through the winter.
For me, I don't like pouring the antifreeze on the ground (pouring it into my septic system is effectively the same thing) so the less I use, the better I "protect" my well water from ground water contamination....

I use the pink stuff (which is non toxic, unlike car antifreeze). Then I blow it out with the compressor. I think having air in the pipes is even better than leaving pink stuff in it.
