Lubricating a Curt Hitch

I have a Curt q16 hitch and the manual tells me I need to lubricate the "zerks" located on the front of the jaws. Located the lube points but they are in recessed holes and my greaase gun nipple wont fit. Anyone else have this problem and found a solution??

Not sure about the 16 but my Q20 has to have the plastic "pin" in it so the jaws will close. Then I can get to the zerk. One of them is down through the hollow plastic pin I think. Been awhile, overdue.
You may have to buy a plastic pin from a dealer. It took me awhile to figure out why they gave it to me.
May not be your issue though.

I had the Q20 also and had no issues at all getting to the zerks.

You can close the jaws by hand or make shift tool and lubricate the zerks.

fitting needed for zerks

I can close the jaws to expose the zerks but they are recessed in small holes and my grease gun nipple wont fit in the hole to allow me to attach to the zerk. Is there some special kind of grease gun fitting I should get?

arturob, Howdy;

Here's a link to Grainger, they should have what you are looking for. If you don't see it then give them a call.

arturob,
I have the same Curt Q16 hitch head. I as well needed to locate a smaller diameter grease gun nozzle. Found one at a local auto parts store (third store). Still a bit tight getting it released but it works. Happy Campin....
