Generator choices for 15K Coleman AC?

2014 Bullet 272BHS has 15k ducted Dometic AC B595.167 (no heat). Looking for minimum recommendation(s) for portable generator(s) to use occasionally. Considering 2 - 2,000/1,600 watt generators in parallel? Anyone have experience with this AC size? Anyone tried 2 - Smarter Tools 2000w units?

I run mine with a Champion 3.5kw. Watching the surge protector it will pull 14-19 amps. That leaves 10 amps for charging the batteries, lights, etc.
Bought at Tractor Supply for about $330.
The 2 Honda 2,000 with the parallel kit is sweet but pricey.

Ditto! Over 350 hrs still running strong. Good luck there's a ton of choices, Ford-Chevy-Dodge.

We also use the Champion 4000/3500 watt "RV" generator. It powers our 15K A/C, converter/charger and refrigerator/microwave without any difficulty.

We had a tornado go through about 10 miles from us this afternoon, lost power for about 5 hours. I pulled out our generator, it started on the second pull and after warming up, we watched the local weather, stayed on top of the weather warnings and watched the thunderstorms roll through.

We bought ours 4 years ago, it's been a great investment for both the trailer and for home use. Maybe not the "sweetest" system around, but it sure does a good job when needed.

I could not agree more.... Had ours about the same amount of time.... Use it about twice a year and always starts and runs for hours

Generator for 15K Dometic ac

Thanks for the Champion suggestions. At #98 it sounds heavy until I look at the competitors weights and prices. I will definitely consider it.

To answer your initial question, Dometic recommends (Coleman probably recommends the same) that a 3500 watt generator be used to power an RV with their 15K A/C installed. They recommend 5000 watts to power two 13.5 or 15K air conditioners.

Most people on here find that a parallel system with two 2000 watt generators will power their rig with no problems. Either setup will probably work well for "normal camping" You may run into power issues at very high altitudes on very hot days with either a 3500 watt or a dual 2000 watt system.

My Champion hasn't been trouble free but I'm happy with it now. It had trouble maintaining voltage. Two trips to the local shop has it running good though.
I will say Champion's customer service reps will help all they can over the phone. I would keep the manual with their phone number handy.

How is the noise level on the Champion generator? Listed as 68db... Just wondering where that sits on the scale of "other people nearby will tolerate it..... to, other people nearby are upset"?

Have an outing coming up where I will need gen power. I just don't forsee that I am going to be able to swing the Honda 3000 by then. This Champion piece looks like a good value.
