anybody ever meet at campgrounds?

my wife and I love to camp but we dont have any "camping buddies" ;-( I live about an hour south of Erie PA and about an hour and a half north of pittsburg,
Just wondering if anybody had met first on here and ended up meeting somewhere out there in a campgound in the middle LOL?
we are in our mid 30s with 2 kids, anybody of like that would like to get to know eachother? LOL

same here, 30's with two kids. Were actually a little south of you down in Delaware. Were looking to do somewere a little different this yr since we mainly stay on the penninsula. We go to frontier town a couple times a yr down near Ocean City Md and the kids love the water park and we take the boat out to go fishing. Were always up for meeting new people.

When we had the Sunline, they held "meet and greets" in several areas of the US. I organized one in the Adirondacks at Nicks Lake State Park campground near Old Forge. I think we had 9 couples the first year.

We just got back from there last week. I think that was the 6th or 7th year that we've gathered. There were 11 trailers there this time. We see several of the couples in June every year for another long camping trip.

The group also holds a good sized gathering in western New York State and a very large one in south central Pennsylvania. Others are happening in several other states. The one in PA drew 63 trailers one year.

I think we all held our breaths the first time, not know if we were meeting strange rangers or folks with other major issues. Turns out we're all a pretty similar group in many ways.

My advice to anyone considering meeting up is to go ahead and do it.

Check your state for some sort of camping organization. We joined Virginia Campers and have met many people who we now camp with regularly. They also have 2 Rally's every year to try and get everybody together at one time. Pot luck dinners and ice cream socials are the norm!

I've never met anyone from this forum but I met a family from a diesel forum I'm on about 5 years ago and we've been camping together ever since. We've actually became really good friends with them. We're from Ohio and they are from PA so we meet in the middle which is usually somewhere in eastern OH or western PA. Usually about a 2 hour drive for each of us. We recently went camping with 9 other families from 5 states that met on a diesel forum.

I havent directly met anyone from this forum. I agree and wish I had some friends who had TT. Growing up my parents would go with same few friends all the time. We have 4 kids and generally go local with 1 or 2 longer trips each year (Myrtle Beach and New Hampshire this year). My local Good Sam club seem to have older members and i am looking for younger age families. I plan on going to the Good Same rally in upstate NY next June

Heading to Yogi's in Lurray, VA the weekend of the 19th! They have a great halloween trick or treat for the kids. We've been going there for a long time. Started out tent camping there when the kids were like 5 and 3, now 14 and 12.

We did meet someone from a Popup Forum we belong to. They had a VERY small popup with Angry Bird stickers on it for their kids. As they pulled into the spot next to us, I saw the stickers and remarked that I bet they were the folks from the popup forum. They later came over and talked to us since we were fellow popup fans and then finding out who we were. They live a couple hours from us but I'm sure next summer, we will meet up with them again as we both normally post where we will be camping.

I look forward to camping in my TT now and chatting with other Pacific Northwest camping folks!

Happy Camping
Julie

We are in the same boat. We have friends visit us when camping (ad sometimes spend a nite), however none of them have a camper themselves. We have been trying to convince a few of them for 3 years now. As for meeting, no we have not, however we are up near Buffalo, NY. Mid 30's and 3 crazy boys.

I was going to suggest Good Sam Chapters, but as noted earlier most of us are retired and travel on a moments notice. Our Chapter, Sam's Grape Stompers, has one rig from the Tonawanda area, four from the Dansville area, and several more in the Clifton Springs/Phelps area, but we're all retired and the only kids that travel with us are four legged fur kids. You might think about coming to the Big Good Sam Rally at the Fair Grounds in Syracuse in June 2013, might be able to meet up with some folks in the same situation as yourself and you could form your own Chapter, just a thought.
