Question Question for those with 12 volt refrigerators.....

Now that the 12 volt (and I mean 12 volt only) refrigerators have been out for a little while in the RV world, how do you like it?

I was a little worried when we bought our 5th wheel last fall with the 12 volt only option as we have no power hookups where we leave the camper but I have to say, the fridge works great! Just got to pay attention to the battery usage. During the summer with 300 watts of solar, an MPPT controller and 200 AH of lithium I could leave it on all week(we only go up on weekends) and it kept up easily with the fridge. However, during the spring, fall or if I knew it was going to be rain for a few days I would shut it off between trips. Really only takes a couple of hours and the fridge is cold! Ours is the Norcold DC10 fridge and it uses around 40 AH/day during hot summer days.

Just did the JC Refrigeration conversation o our Dometic 2862, and love it down to 38 degrees within two hours of startup. We full time and should have enough batteries for power outages.

Wife loves ours much better than the gas absorption refrigerator in our previous trailer .
But we don’t do any boodocking either.
Within 3 hours of turning it on, it is ready to go

It's not the best fridge for boondocking. If I were really serious I would double my solar and lithium batteries and not worry much about leaving it on for 6 or 7 days.
