Question Passport 229RK vs. Cougar 22MLS

These two models have essentially the same floor plan which we love. The Passport has the nice bedroom separation and a little better kitchen layout while the Cougar seems to have a better build quality and a higher price.

What are people thought on Passport vs. Cougar in general? Thoughts on these two specific models?

Thanks for your input!

If you do not have any TV payload limitations, go with the more robust built Cougar.

Just as a "general" observation the Cougars (TT) are in the luxury class of Keystone RVs, the Passports are lower meaning lighter (lesser) build quality and components generally.

OK, Let's compare/contrast the major differences:

Passport 229RK:

built on a "BAL Huck frame"
3500 pound axles with 10" brakes and 5 lug hubs
14" LRD tires (can't upgrade as they are the heaviest load rating available}
LRD tires rated to carry 2040/tire=8160 on 4 tires
two 20 pound propane tanks
43 gallons fresh water capacity= 6 gal hot/37 gal cold
8 cuft 12 volt refrigerator
"extended season" cold weather package
30K BTU furnace
13.5K BTU conventional roof air conditioner with 15K optional
60x80 queen bed
folding conventional entry steps

Cougar 22MLS:

built on a welded steel frame
5200 pound axles (derated to 4400 pounds) with 12" brakes and 6 lug hubs
15" LRE tires (can be upgraded if necessary)
LRE tires rated to carry 2830/tire=11320 on 4 tires
two 30 pound propane tanks
60 gallons fresh water capacity=6 gal hot/54 gal cold
8 cuft gas/electric refrigerator with 10.5 cuft 12 volt optional
Improved "climate guard protection package" with more insulation and
heating pads on holding tanks
35K BTU furnace
2" accessory hitch on rear of frame
15K BTU Coleman "quiet air conditioner"
70x80 king bed
foldout "solid" entry steps

As you can see, there is a significant "build difference" in what you get that's "not readily identified without digging much deeper than the similar floorplan layout"....
