I've used accumulator tanks in boats and campers. They will accomplish 2 things.
They will reduce or eliminate water hammering by reducing or eliminating the pulsations in the water line. Secondly, they will reduce the cyling of the pump. You can draw a glass of water, or dampen a rag, etc withou the pump running.
Naturally how effect the tank reduces pump cycling is inn direct correlation to the size of the tank and the water demand. If the pump cycles when water is not being used then there's an issue. Either the pump isn't holding pressure or worse there's a leak in plumbing bleeding off the pressure.
