Signature Change

Picked up the new (to us) TV yesterday. Traded in what was left of the 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 on a 2016 Ford F-350 SWD 6.7L 4WD. #3624 payload on the yellow sticker. Not great but it has the diesel and crew cab so it sounds about right. A lot better than what we had and opens up our trailer options quite a bit. Have to wait on changing the signature picture until we pick up the trailer from storage in April.

Nice looking truck! Seems those tires would make the ride a tad rough and noisey? That must be a real upline model with a payload of only 3600 lbs but that should do for many campers. I have an old XL (work truck) and it has about 500 more pounds payload and it is also a diesel and 4WD.

Thanks. Road noise seems okay so far. Will be able to tell more tomorrow with 200-mile trip back home. Probably not going to be towing any 5vers or "three-axle anything" with that payload and short box but should be good to finally look at something a little bigger than the 1750RD. We do love that little trailer though.

Congrats on the new truck! That payload will be a direct result of the diesel engine and other options on the truck. It WILL give you much more latitude in trailer selection over the 150.

Is the truck lifted or is it the angle of the pic? If so that needs to be taken into consideration. Also, those tires are going to sing. If they are new it won't be bad but will get progressively worse as time (miles) goes on. They're good for off road, mud, snow etc. but aggressive treads give up a lot for wet road, on pavement traction - ran lots of miles on all kinds of them.

That payload of 3,624# seems a bit low even for a decent trim level. Is the truck a standard bed, or long bed?
Well it does give you more options for what you tow with it.

Well, it grieves me you went from a GM to a Ford. BUT it pleased me you went from a 1500 to a 3500! So... Congrats! I KNOW you'll have a much better towing experience! Enjoy the tow! You'll be so glad you made this change!

Yeah, it's an SRW short bed with the 6.7L diesel and crew cab. As far as I can tell, the payload is fairly typical for that setup. Not sure why the long bed increases payload. The nephews heard F-350 and immediately jumped into "that thing can pull anything" mode. Tried to explain payload limitations to them and their discussion shifted to "airbags" at which point I politely excused myself.

The long bed has a longer wheel base and spreads the load better I would imagine?

Yeah, sounds logical. I'm an electrical/embedded system engineer by day and I couldn't mechanical engineer my way out of a paper sack. I think you can also move up to 12,400 GVWR on the long box and the short box is maxed at 11,500 GVWR which this one is.

Don’t know why everyone is bagging on the payload. My signature truck, long bed, is in the 3400 and change range. It was around ‘19 or ‘20 that Fords made the payload jump. You’ll love the truck, it will pull tree stumps. Congratulations.
