Something else to consider with a conversion to a "goosebox" is what happens should your tow vehicle break down while on a trip. With a conventional fifth wheel hitch, there's more "potential availability to connect to your trailer to get it off the highway" while with many of the "specialized hitch options" there are fewer tow companies that can connect to your trailer to move it off the highway. Sometimes, having the most common type of hitch has advantages.

A Ford break down? Yikes, I was told they were indestructible…just kidding. You make a good point. I intend to leave it as a 5th wheel.
