Data alarms

Ok, on the lower side of the cabinet that I call the "coffee bar" as you come in the door of our Outback 330rl, there are two displays. The top one gives me a digital readout from what I'm guessing is the on board surge protector. The bottom one looks just to be an assortment of alarm indicators. My question is, what is the switch (circled) used for? Thanks.

The switch allows you to bypass the protection of the EMS. I would only use it in an emergency and when I knew the power coming into the trailer didn’t have any issues.

If it's an added layer of protection, why would anyone want to bypass it?

It's a known issue that many generators will cause a fault with EMS as the neutral and ground are not bonded. There is a plug sold for 15 amp that corrects that issue.
