Smile GPS and bridges

Which GPS do you use? Our previous 5ver was 11'-6" H and our Garmin 660LMT seemed to work pretty well. However, we're now 13'-2" and the Garmin does NOT shout at you when you are about to take the top of the coach off. We programmed this thing for 19'-11" and took for a dry run(no trailer) under a 13'-4" bridge and it did NOT give ample warning to STOP. Had we been pulling the camper we would have taken top off. Have you found a GOOD device that actually warns in advance (maybe one mile) that low bridge ahead?

I thought it’s primary purpose was to plan routes around low bridges and other obstacles for you …I didn’t think it would try and stop you if you CHOSE to manually pick a route and drive under a low bridge …probably just a warning message

Our 760 Garmin will only route us the safe routes, I don't think it will stop us from low bridges on routes we take on our own.

My Garmin will reroute me if I attempt to deviate from a "safe" route. Of course that only works in RV mode so If your "dry run" was in automobile mode then it will treat the route accordingly.

Our Magellan routes us around low clearance obstacles but will not give us an alarm if we deviate from the route it gives us. We’ve been traveling and it takes us on a confusing route until we see where there was a low clearance underpass, and then it makes sense. I don’t think any of the brands will stop you from driving under a low clearance place.

Try CoPilot GPS App on your smartphone. It is specifically made for Big Rigs and RVs. It's only about $20/yr
