Yep, I always believe what my truck salesperson says. Their info comes from the Facebookers.

If a person is buying a truck in this market with the high markup,it maybe prudent to get gap insurance unless a 20k down payment or buying with cash of course.
You pay $85000 for a truck that a year ago you could get for $75000 or less and you get in an accident it could be a costly situation if the market corrects itself.
I can’t imagine it would be in the insurance company’s best interest to value the trucks on the high side like the dealers are.

High prices

Same thing happening in RV world. Purchased our 2021 Montana High Country 295RL on April 2021 got it for 12k off MSRP . Dealer said after the inventory sells , prices would be 8 to 10% higher. Another sales gimmic i thought? Fast foward 2 weeks later dealer received another Montana High Country 295RL MSRP 5k more with a 4800.00 discounted sales price off MSRP. No 250s,2500s,350s or 3500s used or new to be had here in the Texas Hill country.

When did Galveston become part of the Hill Country? BTW: There are lots of 3/4 and 1 tons for sale on CL & FB. Just the prices that are incredible.

$122,501.00 or best offer! I am trying to guess what FTX stands for. I got the F part, T stands for TRULY and X is for EXPENSIVE!
I dont know if you have ever priced a Tuscany before. But that has been about the average price on them for about 10 years now. It is about 3 trim levels above a Platinum.

Next thing is tires. They are already warning about a rubber shortage, and that tire prices will be going through the roof. If you need tires, get them NOW. And no, NOT off of FB, yes, I did research and double check before I told my sons to get tires before fall.

Ford is beginning to ship some of those "stored trucks that are waiting for micro-chips"... https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...mpaign=content But this article suggests that the vehicle shortage at Ford will hang on through the rest of this year and that it will be "next year" before the shortages resolve.

Another interesting bit of information: Last year, the average price of a new Ford was $47,800. This year it's up $6,400, making the "average cost of a new Ford $54,200. That's an increase of around 13%, not to mention the lack of "rebates, price incentives and dealer discounts"....

Maybe next year it'll be cheaper to buy a new truck, then with all the recent increases in fuel costs, maybe it'll just be a "different pocket" that we stuff our cash into.....

I guess they are passing on all the costs of storing the vehicles offsite, paying drivers to move them and the overall cost of handling the product much longer then they normally do.
Probably paid a premium for the chips also because of worldwide shipping and manufacturing increases because of the shutdowns.
Company’s hardly ever “eat” losses …they just pass it on to the consumers…(nothing you don’t already know)…I’m sure the wage increase demands will have the same effect once the unemployment strike ends
The middle class really does pay for everything in this country
