30 Amp service plus generator

My 2021 Raptor uses a 50 Amp service but at the Rv Park we are at only has 30 Amp service. Can I run my generator at the same time to make up for the power loss???

No. You have an automatic “transfer switch” that detects where the power is coming from and connects the trailer to that source. It’s probably set to gen by default, meaning it will connect to the gen and should shut off the shore power. It’s designed to only allow 1 power source at a time.

How do I know for sure that I have a transfer switch and will it hurt my Rv to fire up the generator while plugged into 30 Amp service. It just won’t let my wife wash and dry cloths on 30 Amps but will on generator.

You have a transfer switch. Turn off the AC, unplug from shore power. Then stand near the front, plug back in and listen for a “thunk”. That will be the transfer switch locking in. I have been told having both “on” can cause backfeed issues with the grid, in this case the entire campground. I wouldn’t do it.

Have the DW watch the microwave oven when you switch. Display will go dead when you turn gen off. Then when you plug in there will be a delay followed by the “thunk” and then the microwave will come back on line.

That’s the transfer switch.
