Side window by the bed

Hi there, i just acquired a 2011 Cougar 24RKSWE. I have a quick question about the side window beside the queen bed. it is an emergency window, and thus does not open to offer airflow to the bedroom. is it possible to replace this window with one that functions as an emergency escape and also opens to allow airflow?

Ours has a red handle that you unlatch and push the window open from the bottom. It doesn't open very far...

Thanks for the feedback. I just wasn't sure what would happen with the window if we opened the window with the emergency (red) handle

As I recall, our MH had a 1/2 sliding emergency window in the bedroom. So, if you can find one that fits, you should be able to replace it.

KanuckerD, as noted you can open the window for some ventilation with the red handle extension but that is not how it is used in a “emergency”. The entire window is pushed out, I believe from the bottom, and swings up “I think?”. Perhaps a user who has actually forced one open could comment?

I have used mine on several occasions, if the red handle goes all the way out you can push it higher up for escape. I use mine for ventilation on cool nights and use a zip tie on the handle to prevent a gust of wind from blowing it completely out and possibly breaking the window!

Kojac, Took a walk out to the trailer and confirmed that I have the one piece window and concur that if you push the handle all the way out you should be able to crawl/fall out of the window (who catches who?). You first need to remove the inside screen by pulling up on the two red plastic grabs. If they are still there?

Bostonegone, My only hope is that I'm gone if the thing catches fire!! At my age I would probably break my neck in the 8ft fall.
