Closing a/c duct in MBR

I'm in the planning stages of installing a 2nd a/c in the MBR. Already got 50 amps and it's prewired. Got just about everything I need, only waiting on the Dicor and aluminum tape to show up. And some warmer weather. I went with a Dometic 13.5K due to $ primarily. Got a Coleman 15K for my main. I'll trade $ for aesthetics most any day. Not so with DW.
I have an a/c ceiling register that will interfere with the ADB placement, the air flow louvers stick up so I can't get the ADB flat against the ceiling.
Can I just remove the plastic register and put a flat plate in it's place? I only have three a/c vents anyway, and it would be nice to have all the air from the main a/c blowing into the two vents located in the living area. Should I block the ductwork with insulation or something similar once the register is removed, or will the flat plate be sufficient? Any parts suppliers have flat plates or do I need to make my own? Or can I block the duct and just flip the register over?
Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

If it were mine I would block duct off at next register upstream to avoid any air loss in the duct. Also I would look into reinstalling the register somewhere else to maintain sufficient air flow volume so the unit does not ice up. You can most likely get a blank electrical cover painted to match the ceiling if large enough.

We have a Ac in the bed room and one in the garage on our toy hauler.
The two vents in the garage was letting cool air into the it from the bed room ac. So I took off the covers and blocked it there.

The AC in the garage has vents on the AC so when we use it I just open them up.

Look here will this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/RV-A-C-Ceili...-/380553782151

What I did for 2nd bdr air the registry was partially in the way use a bench grinder and cut to fit ( have pict if you want me to upload) Also blocked the air duct at main ac unit. This allows more air in the kitchen and garage.
