Hello from Connecticut
Hello everyone,
My name is Greg and I am from Connecticut. I have a wife and 2 young boys. My wife and I just purchased a 2022 Keystone Cougar 30BHS this past weekend, and hope to take delivery by the end of the week.
I grew up with a pop-up camper when I was a kid, and this is now my 3rd camper. We had a used pop-up and traded it for a 30-ft travel trailer from Heartland ion 2018, and then most recently bought the 30BHS. I have had a lot of RVing experience and traveling to different points on the east coast. I have pretty much every gadget, and accessory you could have for a camper, and have spent countless nights just reading users manuals, forums and watching different RV related YouTube channels. My wife and I consider our self seasoned in the camping/RV world and have learned a ton of information in the last 5 years.
Looking forward to being part of the Keystone community!
Cheers!

Hello Greg, and welcome to you and your family!
You are commended for having read the manuals and documents that came with the RV. I feel it gives the reader a head start on understanding how the systems are supposed to work. Sadly, many folks just toss them in a drawer, not having read them.
I found a three ring binder we had laying around and put all of mine in it, in alphabetical order with index tabs.
Enjoy that new Cougar and take care!

Welcome. Bet your kiddos are stoked! As far as being seasoned, the biggest issues you may face are the electronic gizmos that Keystone has been putting in the newer trailers. If you read awhile on this forum, the InCommand system seems to be the leader is quirky behavior so you may want to search for threads on that thing.
Might be a good idea to put together a signature: UserCP (top/left each page) and make sure you save it. It will give answers to any questions that are on their way to the community more context and folks won't have to ask you what tow vehicle you have or what camper. Happy camping!

Thank you very much for the advice. Yes, I did see that I will be sure to implement one.
I did hear that the inCommand is a little tricky so we will see how it goes

Congrats on your new Cougar and welcome to the forums.
So, what advise can someone give to a seasoned RVer? Maybe ... well ... someday your kids will be on their own and it will be just you two. Keep the relationship between you two alive, well, health, and always focused on each other ... not the kids. They will be gone someday, and then it's just you two. You don't want to reach 25 years of marriage and then find out you are strangers to each other now. Continue to court each other, keep the other's interests and needs above your own, and tell each other every day you love each other!
When you retire, you'll really understand this!

Thanks very much for the great advice! We just celebrated 12 years yesterday, so we have a while before retiring, but will always keep positive :-)

My advice is this..... do a thorough PDI and make them show you how EVERYTHING works. Before you go make sure you know how to use your phone's camera to take videos and arrive with your phone fully charged. You'll be in for a large download of information so best to have a video as a reference.
Be patient, ask for clarifications and don't accept "just push that button". Make them push that button and prove that it's good. There's a good sticky on the forum of a generic PDI if you need one. Make a list ( yes, take a pad of paper and pen with you) of anything that needs addressing and do not take delivery until they rectify every item.
Good luck and enjoy your new camper.

Welcome aboard from another Cougar owner in CT. Enjoy your new purchase. We have one more trip left and then it will be time to winterize. Seems to be getting cold a little early this year. Couple low 30’s at night in the 10 day forecast here in Litchfield county. Lots of good info here, and you will figure out how to separate the wheat from the chaff.
