I have found out I need a special air connection. No more than 40lb pressure.

Hi Gary,

No, you don’t blow air through the winterize port. That’s for sucking the pink stuff using the water pump.

You blow air through the city water connection. And the black tank flush. At no more than 40 psi.

The fitting isn't all that special. You can get an RV blow out plug for under $10 and you'll if your air compressor doesn't have a pressure regulator for the output of the tank then need a separate regulator for the airline. An inexpensive 1/4" line regulator can be obtained for less than $20 from Harbor Freight or Amazon.

You can get the compressor adapters at many places. Walmart has them on the shelf many times;

I've been winterizing fresh and salt boats for 20 years, and we've never taken the pink 1st, Air 2nd approach... after reading this post, it make perfect sense. Pink 1st, air 2nd.

We're in Albuquerque right now for about a week. Temps at night so far in the 23-26f range. I loaded the fresh to 2/3rds and put two gallons of pink in the black and gray to protect the dump valves. There is an old school no timeout heating pad set on low draped over the water pump in the pass through. I plug that in at bed time. Thermostat is on 65 and we've left it there day and night. Open the cabinets at night. Been parked in the street since Sunday, no problems.

The race trailer has pink in the drains, the water heater set on winter and lines blown clear at 40 psi through the city water port. Don't expect any issues. I made a little adapter to bypass the water heater (disconnect the lines, cap the heater outlets, bypass on the lines) since that trailer didn't come with such a thing.
