Hi, we looked at the 279TB before we bought the 280BH, they both look to be the same trailer with the only differences that I can see being: Aluminum alloy wheels, vertical grooves in the cabinet door panels, and possibly upgraded fabric in the upholstery. I have never had any problems with the seals flopping in or out on the slideout and I have never put anything on them. I think that they're made from the same stuff that the rubber roof is made of (EPDM rubber), 303 Aerospace is the only treatment that I know of (as Festus2 has said) that's compatible with this type of rubber. Check the seals and see if any of them are cracked or not fastened properly, I'm not sure, but I think on my unit the vertical seals are put on with contact cement on the slide sidewalls and the horizontal seals are either stapled on or screwed on at the fixed point on the trailer, I looked at these with the slide in. There are about 5 nylon rollers on the bottom supporting the slide room and these I lubricate with either WD-40, or Silicone spray periodically. Don't know if any of this helps you.
