Hello from Delaware!

Buying a 2011 Sprinter 297RET. Have some basic questions and want to learn more from those that already have this or a similar model. Happy to be here!

Welcome to the forums. No info to offer on your camper, but just wanted to welcome you. And an FYI.... I'm in Delaware myself right now ... um.... not Delaware the state ..... Delaware, the State Park in Ohio! Its located at Delaware, Ohio (North of Columbus about 30 miles).

Welcome!

Do not have that model or any experience with one, but at 34.5' long & a GVWR of 10990lbs you'll definitely need something more than a 1/2 ton truck.

It's a heavy RV for sure but Dry Weight is 7962. Don't plan on hauling anything in it until I get it to it's final resting place. I have a Toyota Sequoia that will tow up to 10,000. Needless to say I'm not looking forward to the 5 hour drive to State College, PA but I'm going to store it there when not in use for tailgating.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I previously stated you need more than a 1/2 ton truck, you have less with the Sequoia.
Just FYI that 10k towing capacity was arrived at in unrealistic conditions by the manufacturers in an attempt to one up the competition.
Also a 11-12 year old TT hasn't been anywhere near the dry weight for 11-12 years & along with the vehicle tow capacity means absolutely nothing to you.
That rv will/should have a minimum tongue weight of at 1100lbs (10% of the GVWR), with average tongue weight of 1400lbs (13% of the GVWR). Check the yellow/white tag on the drivers door jamb that states "occupants and cargo must not exceed XXXXlbs" that's the payload.
It may be able to "pull" that much weight but highly doubtful due to limited payload it can safely "carry" that much weight. If planning towing often with this setup buy the very best WDH with sway control on the market to help your towing experience.
That could possibly be a very memorable 5 hour drive with that much rv behind that type of vehicle.
Drive slow & be safe!
