2nd AC needed on Cougar 26RBS?

New to forum and I have searched but have not found any specifics to this floor plan. Interested in a 26RBS and have found one but it has one AC unit. Any feedback on performance with one AC? Like at 100 degrees?

Obviously 2 is better but right now things are hard to get.

If you plan on camping in Texas (assume you are a Texan by the username you used) and assuming you refer to a Cougar that is 30' long, you need to make sure you have 2 A/C units for camping in triple digit temps. If it only has one, which will not get the job done in the summer, see if the camper is 50A or 30A service. If 50A, likely has the wiring and bracing in the bedroom for a 2nd A/C. Don't be shy about getting the VIN and calling Keystone to confirm. They will have to build info to tell you if it s wired/braced for that A/C you need. In my old camper we use a 14K btu portable in conjunction with the 15K btu roof top A/C and it is comfortable. Before we used the portable, couldn't get temps much under 80F.

From what I read that unit is wired for 50A and prepped for the 2nd AC. With that closed door to the bedroom on the end I figure the center AC is going to have a very hard time keeping you cool in 100+ temps.

If you want it I would get it with the understanding the 2nd AC is installed. Things are hard to get but not impossible. A front 13.5 up front would be fine.

I believe this is a bumper pull so I think a standard height A/C would be less expensive and no higher than the rear A/C. Both Dometic and Coleman make low profile units but these tend to be quite a bit more expensive. Wish my camper had been set up 50A and wired/braced.

I wouldn't do anything else than 2 A/C units! The comfort level when outside temps are above 90 degrees is so much nicer with 2 A/C's. I just got my 26RBS with 2 and I love it!

You can't be too cool, especially if you're in a humid area like we are in the southeast. I've got three Coleman Mach III's on mine.

We were looking at that model 2 months ago in central Florida, it had 2 AC units, I'm surprised you came across one with only 1 AC in Texas. I'd continue looking for a more suitable TT for your comfort.

The TX/NM border is Keystone's demarc for Western/Eastern Edition models, which may have something to do with it.

Own a 26RBS. Live in desert Arizona, a full month of 120° this past year. When we used the trailer on a trip where the temp was 100°+ each day (we don't live in it), one AC kept it quite comfortable. Since we don't use the bedroom during the day, we open the AC dump and preferentially cool the center room.

I should add that if your 100° temps are in a high-humidity region of the US, that might change the equation. But we take our rig between here and Florida on I-10 quite often, and have never been uncomfortable in the heat.

I installed a 2nd AC in my 2016 28.5 Keystone fiver! Just one could not keep the trailer cool with Oklahoma heat and humidity, I completed the install myself with information I got from this site. If you have a basic understanding of electrical wiring you should not have a problem. Remember you have to order a control unit that goes with the unit and cost about 80 to 90 dollars. I bought a Dometic 13.5 for second unit!

Regardless of where you're headed or which state you bought the rv in, any rv 25' or more 2 acs are a minimum requirement.
Personally I wouldn't buy one of any size without 2 thermostatically controlled acs.
