5th wheel freeze protection

Hi, From FL and picking up new Fuzion in OH on Monday and then heading to Nashville for a couple days before heading to FL. Never dealt with freezing temps and will hit some overnights in the low 20's. Not concerned with any taks freezing as temps dip overnight but what about water lines. Think I read something somewhere that when you use the gas furnace it dumps a little heated air into the underbelly for freeze protection. True?

The new models are rated to 0° (as long as you take precautions).

If you are picking it up in Ohio, it is probably winterized (unless you asked for it not to be at pickup).

If you intend to have it dewinterized, first is to keep the furnace on which will heat the belly area, plus the passthough and front compartments.

Then plan on keeping water in the fresh tank and using the pump as opposed to connecting a hose.

Keep the tank heaters on!

If you have a Girard tankless water heater, make sure it is on. It has a winter function that will fire the heater at certain temps to keep it from freezing/bursting even in freezing temperatures.

We've done a fair amount of cold weather camping. Basically, if you keep the cabin at a livable temperature the pipes should be fine. Our Cougar has a duct that runs directly from the furnace down into the underbelly to keep that area from freezing.
You should be ok driving during the day especially heading south.
Most of the newer 5ers have tank heaters (not an option on ours) that you can turn on or off. I think using the tank heaters while you're driving is a good idea to make sure there will be no chance freezing.
Enjoy the new Fuzion

If it's already winterized I'd leave it as such until you get to warmer temps. When we start a journey after the trailer has been winterized, we don't use the plumbing driving through until we get clear of cold weather.
What I do is buy or fill several bottles of drinking water to use along the way. We use bathrooms at rest areas, gas stations and places like Walmart. I fill a couple jugs of 1/2 pink antifreeze and 1//2 water. We use this in the toilet if we need during the night and a little in the bottom so the gasket doesn't dry.
That gets us through for a few days until warmer weather were I de-winterize and continue.
