Intermittent Electric Jack

I had an odd thing happen twice to me recently. The Lippert electric jack on my trailer would not go up. When I pressed the button, nothing happened, no sound, nothing, just dead. I removed the fuse and replaced it (same fuse, it was not blown) and all was good. I just figured it was loose or water had gotten into the fuse holder. But a week later the same thing happened. I removed and replaced the fuse, and all was good. I had used the jack multiple times in between failures. Is there some sort of electronic device in the jack head that needs to be reset? Why would removing and replacing the fuse “fix” the issue. Do the fuse holders wear out after a while?

I sure would like to solve this mystery before I get out in the boonies and have to manually lift my trailer.

Any thoughts?

I had a similar issue with my Huskey jack. It would go down but not up. After I contacting customer service it was suggested that the fault was a bad grounding surface. I cleaned the grounding contact points and connected a direct ground wire to the battery, it still didn't work. I even changed out the up-down switch and again no luck. Huskey replaced the jack.

The best place to start is to be assured the jack is getting 12v from the battery. Then clean up the grounding surfaces. If still no luck run a separate ground wire from the jack to the negative post on the battery. If that don't correct the problem the issue may be with the switch or a fault in the control board. Be sure you have the handle packed before your trip just in case you have to crank it by hand.
