adding a rear receiver hitch

has anyone ever taking a receiver hitch from a truck and modified it to fit on the back of a 5th wheel?

i am thinking about trying to make brackets to mount to the frame rails of trailer- i wont be pulling any doubles or anything but want it for a 4 bike rack-
my bumper wont support them.

CURT builds a "RV specific receiver" that is designed to mount between the chassis rails on the "standard build RV chassis".

I'd look at buying one of them. Chances are it'll be stronger (less welds, less extra pieces) and fit better.

The MSRP listed on the CURT website is very high. I don't think I've ever seen either hitch offered at that price from any retailer. Typically, both are listed at least $100 less than MSRP, often as much as $200 less. So, shop around.

So I looked at this today for a minute
My rv has the sliding rear tray which prevents adding a real rear hitch to the frame-
Removing the tray would mean needing to remove the rear stabilizers and reattaching them then a hitch
I think I may take the tray insert out and look at its framing to see if I can just add a receiver tube to it with a couple pieces of angle-
