Bunk Ladder?????

My wife wants something for top bunk for our son, due to it being a 2016 175lhs doubt a fixed metal one would work since would cover most of bottom bunk access. was thinking a rope ladder of some sort so he could pull it up and wouldnt be in the way of walking or bathroom door. If we went that the rope ladder way how would i go of attaching it?

Stromberg Carlson makes a bunk ladder that you can adjust the height, and it hooks on the top bunk edge so you can move/remove it.

Doesn't anyone know of an option to that seconds somewhat as a guard rail? I was thinking of making one if we go to a bunk that has "side entry" the current bunks in our model you enter from the foot of the bed. I just don't want the grandchildren rolling out in the middle of the night.

I couldnt find one i really liked, so i ended up making a ladder for our bunks. I have a foam mat on the ground, and I put sand paper grip tape in the rungs. Grabs onto the lip of the top bunk by 2 plastic covered screw hooks. The hooks are into a 1.5 x 1.5 block which is attached to the ladder with lag bolts and washers (so they csn move forward and back). We have used it for a bunch of trips now. When we are pulling the TT, it goes on the top bunk til needed. The bottoms are angled so the ladder sits flat on the mat.

Just an idea.

We use a Stromberg Carlson. It even supports my fat *** when I have to climb up there for occasional toy retrieval.

Nice....for a top bunk I guess I could add a horizontal piece to the part that extends past the top bunk rail....that could act as a guard.

That's what I was thinking as well. A couple L brackets would work.
