WE vs non WE package

We have a 2018 Passport Grand Design Ultra Lite 2810BH with what appears to be a weather package (has Extended Season sticker). But the sticker by the door just says 2810BH not 2810BHWE.

For those who are certain they've the WE package does the door sticker say WE after the normal model number?

I'm asking so I can determine the size of the holding tanks....the 2810BHWE package in this model has 30 gallon grey and black but the 2810BH has larger 36 gallon tanks. Just good information to have.

Thanks

A 2810BHWE is the western edition of the 2810BH.

Depending on where you buy your trailer will (most of the time) dictate wether you’re buying a west coast edition or a east coast edition. Practically the same, but I believe the roof is sometimes arched for the east coast trailers. Obviously there will be some differences as to what’s standard on one versus the other as only an added option. This has been my understanding of it, someone with more knowledge will chime in I’m sure.

FYI, extended season weather package is not a full time year round weather protection package. It simply allows you to camp longer into the colder months/climates or protect you a little more from the hotter months/climates. But it has it’s limits so be aware.

Let us know exactly what the extended season sticker says and someone on here can quote its meaning. I have seen things like Polar package and 4 seasons on stickers. Bottom line is they not much better than nothing. Winter pipes will still freeze and break, Summer it will be really hot inside with the A/C on. In many parts of the US.

First, Keystone doesn't produce any "Passport Grand Design" trailers...

Grand Design is the name of a competing manufacturer. Passport's model name is "Grand Touring"....

As for the "WE" designation, that represents "Western Edition" and is used to denote trailers built in the Keystone facility in Pendleton, Oregon. Trailers without the "WE" designation are built in the Goshen, Indiana facility.

The "Extended season package" was advertised in the 2018 Passport brochure as having R-7 walls and R-11 floor/ceiling insulation values. With the single pane (R-1) windows, you can pretty much be assured that as soon as the heat goes off, you're going to soon be sleeping in nothing more than a "hardwall tent".

According to the 2018 brochure, the 2810BH models built in Goshen were equipped with 38 gallon black/gray tanks while those built in Pendleton were equipped with 30 gallon tanks. Both had 43 gallon fresh water capacity. That is 37 gallons in the FW tank and 6 gallons in the water heater.

According to the brochure, the Western Edition construction features included a "snow load roof" and an "enclosed underbelly". Both the eastern and western build trailers have/had the same insulation factors.

You can download the 2018 Passport brochure here: https://keystone-rv-dealer-app.cdn.p...chure_2018.pdf

NONSENSE! The Arctic package has been tested to -50F or something according the Keystone. Its merit is as good as relying on half-ton tow-able statements. And published pin weights.... and and and. OP- Instead of worrying about temps you can camp in winter-time, ask real folks what is needed to keep the trailer from turning into a frozen Keystone-sickle. Marketing drives this stuff and it ain't to be believed verbatim.

The best way to determine the size of the holding tanks is to use some type of measuring device. Keystone brochures and pretty much every manufacturer brochures will have a disclaimer “specs subject to change without notice”.

You MIGHT get lucky contacting Keystone with your VIN and ask for a copy of the “build sheet”, it will have pretty much everything installed in your trailer by size, brand, model, and serial number.

I'm not sure what differences Keystone puts on what models in the E vs W models. I knew of the differences but figured they were probably cosmetic until I started bouncing a potential purchase of a 2020 Cougar 315RLS between FL (E) and TX (W). The E models had one of the large slides that was ram/gear driven while the W models did not have that which I thought was pretty significant if it was important to someone.

In the end I figure the E model vs W model is immaterial since I (most) won't drive to the East coast to buy a trailer with a little "xyz" that I like in that model vs what is available here in the W models.

Keep in mind that the "East Coast" starts in El Paso, according to Keystone.

When I was still shopping, I stopped in at a dealer's in Anthony TX to check out a "non-western edition" model of the rig I have now. Actually, I think it was the "rear kitchen" version, which they didn't even offer in the western region.

Yeah, when you're "in the middle" I'm not sure where what starts or what ends but I will say that in my neck of the woods I don't get to see the E models.

For those that have the "WE" edition, does it say it on the sticker next to the door?

My 2018 Keystone Springdale is a “WE” and it doesn’t show it at the end of the numbers.

What is the model number on the VIN decal on the roadside of the trailer ?

Yes, it does.

I admit I haven't read through this entire thread yet, but I would like to add... When we were shopping in 2017 (for 2018s) and in 2019 for 2020s, the WE Cougar half ton were 50 amp and pre wired for 2nd AC, tended to have slightly larger fresh, gray, and black tanks, and greater CCC. The eastern had 30 amp service, smaller tanks, lesser CCC, etc. Now this may have been influenced by what the Dealers ordered. But that's what we found.

Go to the other side and look at the sticker with the VIN number and tire info. I would trust that more than the "advertising sticker" by the front door.

From my understanding the "West version" can depend on suppliers and what is available at each location. For example my 22MLS has a front windshield because it's available where it's manufactured. The west coast version does not because they are not able to source the windshield locally.

It doesn't offer anything helpful.

That is why I am asking to see if anyone who has a "WE" package has the "WE" suffix on the camper model next to their door.
