Hot water

My suburban 10 gal. Water heater running on electric is not getting up to temperature on gas it's fine. Checked outside shower to make sure it was off so I'm not getting cold water crossing into hot. Will the electric element starting to go out cause this. I have flushed it out and not alot of deposit came out.

Check to insure both your outside and inside switches are on. If it still doesn't get hot. Turn it off oand change your heating element.

Before you change the element, make sure you have 110V to the element. Outside switch is a common failure.

Element checked good with ohm meter but what I found is the 120 volt side thermostat and high limit is prematurely shutting power off to element. I think it thinks it's up to temperature and satisfies. I'm going to replace thermostat and high limit sensors and go ahead and replace element just to be safe.

We just got back from camping in Tn for the week and our elec water heater wasn't working either. Luckily the replacement heating element and tool to remove it are both really cheap.
