No Hot Water Flow- but hot in tank

Hi Guys,
re: Suburban 6 gallon SW10DE

Busy de-winterizing and hot water will not flow. Opened up anode area and warm water is in fact, inside the tank. However only cold water flows thru the faucet. Any ideas??

Thanks, Rob

It's thing I think of is your WH bypass valve. Check it. Good luck.

Thanks.
However valve seems to be in-line for passing thru into the tank. Also, I filled the tank with water. It was emptied for the winter.
Any other ideas??

I think the bypass valve should be at 90 degrees so the water flows directly into the tank on one end and out the other. I could be wrong. It's been awhile since I looked at one. I know that on my old TT with the bypass set for winterizing water could still get in the tank. You may want to try switching it to see if it makes a change. A picture of your lines going in and out of your tank may help. They aren't all the same.

Gravity, if you vented the HW tank it creates a path for it to flow. Usually from the top instead of from the bottom as it should. Glad it worked for you.

There are two valves. one on the cold line to allow water into bottom of tank and one in between the hot and cold lines connecting them together. that is your bypass and must be closed. the valve to your cold input at the bottom is the one that should be open to let fresh water into the tank.

I only see 1 valve. No valves at the hot or cold lines entering or exiting the tank.

In the photo above the bypass valve is in the middle. Of course, it's very inconvenient and difficult to see and/or reach it...

I believe there is a check valve on the outlet side of tank

You are correct. On the style of valve you have you only need 1. Rotated one way it shuts off flow into the tank and opens the bypass line at the same time. Rotated the way you have it now, it shuts off the crossover and opens the cold water intake.

Yes, all working fine now. The photo depicts the valve in position for usage (not winterization).

14george- I don't see a check valve exposed
