Water Pump dims lights????
I just replaced my water pump with a new one as my old one didn't shut off properly and dimmed the lights when it ran. My new pump now shuts off properly but still dims the lights when running. Could this be a ground problem? Anyone else have this problem? Need to know there is an easy fix. Thanks in advance.

You could have a ground or other connection issues, or it could be a battery problem. I would start checking all the battery connections and wiring that you can see, and i would also consider having the battery(ies) load checked to be sure they are healthy.

Water Pump dims lights????
Are you plugged in to shore power? If not then some dimming may occur depending on how many 12V circuits are on at the same time. If your lights are incandescent and all on, you may be drawing enough to see a voltage drop that manifests itself as lights going dim.
Having a single battery will have more affect than two. And if multiple batteries, how they are hooked up can affect voltage drop.

I just installed 4 new Interstate deep cycle batteries in series parallel. Batteries show excellent voltage. No other 12V circuits on. This has occurred for quite some time. Lights also pulsate with the pump. I think I am going to check grounds. Thanks for your input.

If it's not the batteries, grounding is the next logical culprit. If possible, run a "temp" two wire straight from the batt, to the pump to prove it out. You might want a "dedicated run" frpm the batt straight to the pump. Make sure to include an in line fuse where it is convenient to get to.
Good luck! Let us know...

The batteries may show good voltage but it's the amps thats important. Is the pump the same as the original? You need to check the amp draw at the pump to make sure it's not drawing to many amps.

With a bank of batteries, the leads to the trailer should be on opposite ends. The positive should be on one end of the battery bank and the negative lead on the other end. By series parallel do you mean parallel (+ to +) not in series (+ to -) if your using 12V batteries.

Using 6V cart style batteries(Interstate 232Amp). 2 batts in series (+to-) then parallel to the other two (+to+ and (-to-) connections are in the apposing corners. All is correct so going to check grounds and at the same time put an additional switch in the bathroom for those late night trips that my age requires.

I guess I do not understand. You have 4 new batteries and than say 2 6v batteries?.
Just knowing the batteries show good voltage does not mean you do not have a problem with them, connections or testing them for load. Without checking all the possible problems at the batteries and with the batteries, you may miss the problem. We still do not know if your on shore power at the same time.

I'd check all the terminal screws including the supply line lugs in the 12v panel. It almost has to be either that or a bad connection where the battery bank grounds to the trailer frame.
With regard to the second pump switch in the bathroom, why isn't that standard equip.? To do it right you will need to use a pair of 3-way switches, but I know they are available because my last trailer (Holiday Rambler) had such an arrangement.

I believe he has his batteries connected as shown in this link. This should be a good setup for plenty of battery power. My guess is that he is not on shore power if he has gone through the expense to do a setup like this, but I could be wrong.

Our Tiffen class A motor homes use 4 or 6 6V batteries depending on model and inverter size.
