Raptor inverter

The power inverter that has on off switch do you leave it on all the time or are you supposed to turn off if stored? Does it have to be on for generator usage or only for shore power? Also will it run batteries down if left on for 3 weeks without power? I've never seen a light on when there's no power to camper or generator is not running.
Thanks

Since the inverter uses 12VDC and changes it to 110VAC I would turn if off anytime your not using it. Not knowing the brand/model of yours I don't know how much it draws while just turned on and not powering any load, so I cany say if it would discharge the battery(s) completely in 3 weeks.

Chuckster it did run batteries down so I charged them back and ran generator all night since it'll be sitting another 3 weeks. I plugged the camper up this time and left inverter off. The green light is constantly blinking and it says that means float charge. I assume that'll keep batteries charged? I also put a battery tender on two of the batteries up front. It has two 6 volt batteries on generator and two 6 volt batteries on hydraulics compartment. I cut everything off in camper hoping this will keep batteries charged.

If I might ask, where is your inverter located on your Raptor? We're still new with this trailer and haven't located everything.

Unless you special ordered it from the factory your trailer probably just came with a converter and not an inverter. I don't remember seeing an inverter standard on a Raptor.

Jim in Memphis:
Inverters are typically an after-market add on and not part of an RV's list of "standard equipment". They are often installed by those who frequently dry camp but they do require a 12V supply which in turn needs to be charged up somehow - either by solar or generator.

I assume its a good battery charger or tender if left plugged in ?? I should've left it plugged in last time to keep batteries up. I know the satellite will work on batteries if inverter is left on.

I found a pic on the web of inverter like mine. Its a xerator I think not sure on spelling. After reading reviews it seems it is a temp sensitive battery charger to take complete care of your batteries. Its a shame idk what I had when I bought this camper. So far seems to be good though. Gotta get pole barn built for it and start learning more on it.

Raptor inverter

Inverters aren't made to charge batteries. If it's a Converter/Inverter then as long as it is set to charge and plugged into shore power it will. What model # is it?

Not sure model number I remember reading it is a converter/inverter it switches to generator from shore power. It says on box battery charger is always on. Just didn't know if its good enough charger to keep batteries up. Sounds like it should be though. I'm on the boat working or I'd look at its model#

Xantrex's line includes 3 products: battery chargers, a charger/inverter and inverters.
IF yours is a combination charger inverter it will: (a)charge the batteries when AC power is available; (b) allow any surplus AC power to pass through and power downstream loads such as TV sets and microwaves; and (c) when AC power is disconnected it will change DC power into AC power.

This type of charger/inverter also acts as a transfer switch.

According to their website, Xantrex does not make any converter/inverter units. You need to give us the model number before we know what you have - a charger/inverter; an inverter or a plain charger.
