Buying new wheel question.

Buying 5 new 16" x 6" wheels (extra for spare) and putting LT tires on them (already have tires).

I have a question as to the pattern. Is it 6 on 5.50" with a 4.25" center?

Currently, I have 15" wheels on our '13 Cougar 29RES and the tires are coming up on their 3rd summer now with over 10,000 miles on them so I'm planning (preventing) ahead of the inevitable tire blowout/camper damage.

ahead of time.

Are you sure the 16" tires will fit under the fenders? Are you sure the 16" wheel pattern is the same as the 15" that you have now?

That is probably the correct bolt pattern as it is the most common for 6 lug wheels. Clearance is a concern, did you go with a lower profile tire? For example if your 15" wheels were a 70 series you could probably fit a 65 series 16". There are tire calculators on line that compare diameters of different size tires.

I will measure the difference in tires this weekend and the clearance I currently have to be sure. If it is close I am going to go for it. I will look to see what size new tires I have as they are at my dads house right now. Looks like mine right now are ST225/75r15 with a diameter of 28.25" and the new ones are supposed to be 30.5" so it is only 2.25" bigger and that would only be a little over 1" closer to the top of the fenderwell. Also I could put a spacer over the axle to raise the clearance. Gotta go out and measure it this weekend.

I have a similar trailer 26SAB . You have an extra slide and a couple of feet but our weights are somewhat similar. I put 10,000 miles on our China bombs without any problems but when I replaced them I went with the Maxxis. I wanted to go up to the E rated but was convinced to stay with the D. Dont forget regardless of what kind of tires that are on there now, You can only put so many pounds on your axles without overloading them. Good luck with your tires.

Weight isn't the issue. 7700# total axle weight on (2) 5000# axles with (2)2800# rated tires on each axle. I have enough cushion with the current tires but I want to go with LT tires and have an extra safety factor as they don't have the restrictive speed rating(65mph) and are rated much better so blowouts are much less of an issue.
