Smile 2007 Keystone Challenger 34SAQ

We did not get an owners manual for this RV, which we did not notice until we were already on the road. Does anyone know if this model has a heated underbelly? We have a job during the winter in Campbellsville, KY and we want to know what to expect...

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I'm not sure about your Challenger but our Cougar has a "heated" underbelly. However, it is heated by a 2 inch duct that will carry some heat to that area but only when the furnace is running. Any heat that reaches the underbelly might be "warm" at best and will soon dissipate. Remember that the underbelly is very poorly insulated and is full of openings which allow cold air to enter and warm air to escape.

I wouldn't rely on the existing set up to prevent any pipe and/or tank freeze up during prolonged periods of cold weather.

These units are 3 season campers --- forget the "Arctic/Polar/...." decals as they are pretty much meaningless. I understand that the newer models may be slightly better at withstanding colder temperatures but how much better is unknown.

Check out threads by geo, one of our members who has researched the underbelly, crawled inside and carried out extensive modifications to this area. Because of his work, he has been dubbed "Lord of the Underbelly". Actually, we haven't heard from him in some time so he may still be "in there". Geo, can you hear me? Come out! Come out wherever you are!
