2013 Montana High Country 325RL AC issue

I was supposed to take delivery uf a 2013 Montana High Country 325RL several days ago. During the walk thru, we noticed that there was very little output from the AC. It was 95 and humid both inside and out. After 2 hour, the inside temperature hadn't changed and airflow thru the cieling vents seemed minimal. The walk thru demonstrator insisted that it was normal for the conditions and opened the direct vent on the AC to prove that there was output. I wasn't impressed and called my salesman. He didn't seem impressed either. Next came the Sales Manager and then the Service Manager. I told them that for what I was spending, I expected better. After much haggeling, they agreed to install a second AC at cost. I'm still not convinced that the AC was functioning properly. We are currently waiting for the additional AC to be delivered and installed to take delivery. What is the experience of owners oof simularly sized Montanas regarding the AC.

There is a very similar thread on the forum today about the lack of cool air that reaches throughout the RV. In almost all cases, it is a result of sloppy workmanship and installation at the Keystone factory. Ductwork has not been properly sealed - especially around the A/C - and the cool air simply goes up into the ceiling and not through the ducts.
This is not an isolated problem and once members remove the lower shroud and apply some aluminum tape to the areas that have "come apart", they immediately notice a big improvement.
If you do a forum search (try typing in Air Conditioner or A/C problem or something similar) and you will find extensive discussions about this and what other members have done to solve the problem. Also check out today's posts and thread about this issue.

It's not just Montanas that are having this problem - it is fairly common amongst all models.

You might want to get the dealer ( or do it yourself) to check the ductwork and seals around the A/C. If he tells you that your problem "is the first I've heard", tell him to join the forum and read all the posts about the shoddy installation at Keystone.

Oh yes, welcome to the forum....

Waterbug, I'm not sure about your air flow but if the temp is 95 outside and in, that small AC unit isn't going to cool it off fast by any means, your rig is too big for a small AC. Also if you don't have full shore power that will affect your AC performance. On our unit you have different fan settings for the AC. Check to see if your fan setting is on high before you turn on the AC. Hope you get it fixed soon.
