Smelly freezer

This is the second time that the fridge didn't transfer over from electric to propone when we lost power. The storm and loss of power was about 2 weeks ago.

Needless to say...the rotten meat smell is atrocious! I've cleaned, sprayed with vinegar & hydrogen peroxide. Have baking soda covering the bottom of the freezer. This may or may not take care of the odor

From my reading, the meat juices may have leaked into the insulation. If that's the case, the fridge is toast! The trailer is just one year old, so not looking to replace fridge.

Any advise, commiseration, laughter....?

Put a bowl of pure vanilla in it for 3-4 days. Longer if you want, but that should do it.

Additionally, when in storage, put news papers in it.

*Stuff* happens sometimes, unfortunately. Before you go to the expense of a new frig, try COFFEE... fresh, un-brewed, coffee grounds in the freezer.

monica4patience, Howdy;

Old Trucker's trick to clean out a foul smelling trailer.

Put a 1/4 cup of coffee grounds (unused), in there, leave it for a few days
with the door open ... gone .

I had the same problem only with 30,000#'s of rotten meat cuttings that had
set in the hot Summer sun for a week before I had my chance to drag it to it's
destination. Took a 3 pound can of coffee a week with the doors open but the
stench was gone.

I once went camping for week and came home to the power being out for 3 days. The smell of rotten pork chops was like the smell of a dead body. I actually though!t that someone had died in my place as it was that bad!
The coffee trick is the best way to go and it works great !
