Question Mountaineer 345DBQ opinions?

Hello all,

We are full-timing are looking to upgrade our 25' Zeppelin TT and move into a fifth wheel. So far we have been considering bunk house models (3 kids) or converting the garage of a toy hauler to a bunk room.

We have located several used 345DBQ bunk models. From searching the forum, it sounds like people generally have the 'typical' issues. I did find reference to several posts about the rear slide outs experiencing issues when moving the RV.

I would love to hear from anyone in this model and your experiences.

Thanks!

We purchased our 2012 345DBQ two years ago using it as a cabin (taking it on less than a good road to where we park it for the summer. No problems except the factory did not tighten water supply fittings to kitchen sink. No known issues with rear slide outs when moving but will watch.
Just remembered one other problem. There was a recall as to when the top of the stove was on and the furnace kicked in, the flames would draft down toward the stove. Stove taken out and back draft stopped with a board.

We considered the 345dbq but went with the 346lbq when we were looking at bunkhouses. Mainly because of the kitchen slide with peninsula. Also, with kids the open shower blocks off the bedroom when someone is taking one and the enclosed bathroom eliminates this problem. Just something to think about. Also, this floorplan has been changed now to include a second slide in the bunkroom if you look at new ones.

Bought a 345DBQ about a month ago...been full timing (temporarily while moving), and really like it. The bunk room is huge. It was one of the few models that had a tub (garden tub anyway). We also looked at a Heartland Gateway. It is about another 10K, and is 41 ft. We didn't want to spend the extra money nor have a trailer over 40 ft.

Only issue we have had is we tore a cabinet door partially off the first time we put out the bunk room slides. Impossible to see back in there...so we just had to listen. Sure enough, a door was open enough for the slide to grab it. Easy fix, but frustrating. Our future fix to prevent it from happening again is to use child safety clips going down the road so the doors won't come open.

Happy shopping!

With a family, I highly recommend a fifth wheel Floorplan that offers a fully enclosed bath and shower (called a side aisle bathroom). This provides full privacy without blocking off access to front bedroom.
